Slit-Lamp Examination
The slit-lamp examination serves only to examine the structures towards the front of your eye.
The optometrist or ophthalmologist shines a bright light focused into a strip onto your eye to examine structures like your cornea, iris, and sclera (the whites of your eyes). This test is used routinely to check for the presence of many conditions, such as cataracts, which are the clouding of the lens, corneal injuries, and a score of other conditions that abnormal slit-lamp examination results can be indicative of. |
